Abigale Lee
Miller(born on 21st September 1965) is an American choreographer, dance
instructor and reality TV personality. Abby Lee Dance Company was established
by her. It was a part of eight seasons of the show Dance Moms. Miller was found
guilty on June 27, 2016 , to fraudulent bankruptcy in the felony category.
Miller was sentenced on the 27th of June the 27th of June, 2016 to a year, and
one day in federal prison. She was released February 27 of 2018. In April of
2018, she developed lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer that made her unable
to walk. She uses a wheelchair for mobility. Miller was raised around dance in
Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, an Pittsburgh suburb. She studied under the tutelage
of her mother at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. At the age of 14 years old,
Miller was given the responsibility to choreograph and coach one of her
mother's dance competition teams. Miller eventually assumed control of the
studioand changed its name to Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by
Dance Masters of America, and was a member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania
Chapter 10 (February 1986). However, DMA terminated her membership in February
2012 due to Miller's show on reality television Dance Moms was a "complete
mistaken portrayal of the teachers we have and their students" and was
detrimental to the profession.
